I went to a one room country school, Curtis Mill Elementary, for all
eight grades....and I'm proud of it! Mrs. Kiltz was the teacher and to this
day I love her and respect her. She had an "arsenal" of rulers, pointer sticks,
fly swatters and even a Louisville Slugger bat on her desk. She was "well armed"
and knew how and when to use her "weapons". Sooooo many "times" I went home
with sore knuckles from a ruler crashing down from the heavens, making me well aware
I'd better "toe the line". Was I "scared" of her....yup. Did I "respect"
her...yup! Mrs. Kiltz was the epitome of "Teddy R's" thoughts of "speak softly
and carry a big stick!" So today...under the guise of "leadership during
wartime", this amateur Obama Administration CUTS our military budget
and manpower to pre-WWII!!!...PRE-WWII!?? Are they crazy?...therein
lies the problem...CRAZY LIKE A FOX! I honestly
believe this one man, Barack Obama, can and will transform
America and its value system into a third world status, forever doomed to
mediocrity. Most of the world's leaders do not respect us anymore
(certainly not Obama), when polled most countries look at us as a big dog
with no teeth, a bark but no bite. I'm not advocating being a bully--far from it.
What I am saying is that strength, power and a solemn resolve that
we won't be stepped on has been a deterrent for over 200 years
to reckless "two pistol thugs" that "think" about taking on America...Now, they're
standing in line sneering at us. The appointment of Chuck Hagel as Secretary of
Defense was like Ringling Brothers "pushing another clown in the car"...It's laughable.
Hagel has proven to be a "bumbler" through his political career and looks and acts
like a disheveled floor mop when trying to explain this new stupid approach
to downsizing and denigrating our forces. A good friend of mine, Gary Schorzman
of Rupert, Idaho, just sent me a newspaper article from August 1948. I'd like to
quote one paragraph of that article that is SO pertinent
for TODAY.
"If governmental expense is permitted to increase at its present rate and the deficit
continues to grow, a point finally will be reached when national socialism will
be the inevitable result".
Our military has protected and sheltered US for over 200
years, why, why do we even think of lessening that protection? God
Bless all of them for their sacrifices and their diligence...God Bless them
for their commitment to our flag and Country and God Bless them for having the courage
to pay the ultimate price for us to be safe and free. God Bless them! Now with
Obama, their job and their families will suffer from a lack of funding, benefits
and better technology...and WE THE PEOPLE sit back and let it happen...God
help us! We all should not ask, but DEMAND that
our congressmen and senators say NO to these "cuts" and
YES to better national security!...I think back to
grade school and Richard Rolfs. In the seventh grade he stood 6'1" and weighed
at least 225 and as easy going as ice cream in August...BUT...if
you crossed him or threatened one of his friends, you'd be better off holding
a basket of rattlesnakes! – that's how the U.S. used to be and should
be again!
Lighter note. It's almost baseball season...again. When the Milwaukee Braves
moved to Atlanta, I became a very enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fan...(I don't know
why). I'm 66 years old and...I'm having severe doubt that "selection" is a wise
one for the "chance" of post season play, let alone the World Series. They've been
close. But, through some amazing, startling, unusual and profound ineptness, the
Cubs have always found a way to shoot themselves in the foot! With the grass
turning green and the trees budding out and the birds singing, there is always
the "hope" THIS will be the Cub's year...but don't bet on it!
