Absolutely NO chance of a "White Christmas"....well...if
any, a very small chance of a measurable amount...HMMMM! Christmas
Eve, we were at Jeff and Lori Mayes for supper and after a delicious meal, we visited
for a while, then said our "Merry Christmas wishes" and stepped out into a night
of total white!! What happened?!!...Holy Snowflakes Batman!...it was a mess! We
only had (honestly!) a half mile to drive and I couldn't see the road! The
wind was howling like a pack of crazed wolves and the "Angel dandruff" was really
starting to pile up!!...ah, excuse me dear reader....No Chance... or very little chance of snow?...really!
The wind blew hard all night and the next morning...Christmas morning...my bride
and I woke up to a scene that resembled what Santa had left to deliver his goods...the
North Pole! Our porch had over 3 feet of snow and getting the door open wide enough
to get out was a challenge. Huge drifts of snow blocked off both entrances
to my driveway and oh, well, my pickup was buried fore and aft. As I write this,
I'm dreading going out to shovel off the porch and start my de-icing program. Crutches
and ice do not make "good friends"...it's going to be a long day. With every
scoop of snow I dig...I'll try to keep my composure and remember... "Absolutely
No Chance of Snow".
I am preparing my do's and don'ts, wants and "no ways" for 2015. Naturally
some of the same items have been on every list for the past 20 years!
However, there are some things that are new and important. Some are very
personal and some will require me to carry a hand mirror, look at myself occasionally
and then yell "Straighten up, Dummy"! Age doesn't mean that we, all of us, can't
strive to be better, love more and be more helpful to our fellow man. If we all
would try to "patch up" some of the holes in our "personality screen door", the
world would be a better place...just think of all the hand mirrors the department
stores would sell!!!
