Yes...I'll admit, it hurts a lil' bit when I
walk. All the
broken bones and hip and all the surgeries...yup, it's catching up to me. However,
every step I take can never be as painful and torturous as when Jesus
walked to his death on Golgotha (place of the skull). Think about all of
your small aches and pains and your complaining over something so petty as a paper
cut...then please "think" about the complete agony that Jesus suffered for
you and me. After Pilate, the Roman governor, "washed" his hands of Jesus and released
the murderer, Barabbas, the severe torture of Jesus began. The Roman soldiers flogged
him with lead tip whips which were made to tear the flesh at every strike. They
beat him with their fists and spit on him and took sticks and beat on him some more.
Weakened and near exhaustion, Jesus still stood and the Bible tells us they put
a purple robe on him and then a "crown" of extremely sharp thorns, pushed down on
his head causing severe bleeding and agony. Then...the "WALK"
started. Dragging wooden beams in the form of a cross, Jesus ' misery was unbelievable
as he took one shaky step after another up the hill to his crucifixion. A man in
the crowd, Simon of Cyrene, was ordered by the Roman soldiers to take the cross
from Jesus and finish the trek to "The Skull". Friends...what happens next will
still make the "toughest" men cringe...they laid Jesus on the cross and drove 8
inch spikes into his palms and then forced his feet, one over the other, and drove
another huge spike through the top of his feet into the wood...then, with an excruciating
jolt, the cross was stood upright in the hole and Jesus was left to die. Scholars
have written about death by crucifixion, the extreme pain and eventually, death
because of asphyxiation...Jesus couldn't breathe...you know the rest of this
historical event or you should! Jesus Christ, rose from the dead and provides
all of us an opportunity to walk with Him forever! That's
one "walk" I'm really looking forward to, no pain, no limp, no crutches...WOW!
So, Dear Readers, when you feel "down and out" remember Jesus "walk" and
how wonderful it will be for all believers in Eternity!....Happy
Easter!
Last week I made a mistake in "Cowpies" and a very dear friend drew my attention
to it. Every week I put a Bible verse in this blog and last week's was Romans 13
vs 19....ooops. One small problem here...there is NO
Romans 13 vs 19 - - I meant Romans 12 vs 19! My thanks to ole' ropin' buddy Dave
Wright of Kimberly, Idaho for pointing out my error! Once again...God Bless you
this Easter and remember - -
"CHRIST IS RISEN!"
