Whatever happened to a handshake and your word...DONE DEAL!
Aaah...not anymore. Deanne and I drove up to Pendleton, Oregon last weekend to
look at a horse, liked the horse, bought the horse and after a handshake and verbal
agreement, walked back to my trailer with my new horse...30 minutes later,
the owner backed out of the deal...changed her mind! I drove 450
miles, and all the expenses, to have the owner nonchalantly say, "Oh, I've changed
my mind, I'm not going to sell!!!"...Growing up in Wisconsin with strict, REALLY
strict German parents, it was drilled into me that when you give your word and shake
hands...done deal,...no contract necessary! NOT ANYMORE! Whether it's loose lipped,
steely eyed politicians or an insurance agent, reneging on a claim you thought was
covered – people don't honor their word. Folks don't do what they
say they will do...thus the state of the world today. Obama said
that if Syria crossed his "red line" - repercussions would be severe....NOPE....NADA.
Tom Brady said he knew nothing about the deflated footballs – no, not HIM,
why he's "Captain Clean"...now he's facing a 4 game suspension and the Patriots
will have a million dollar fine and lose top draft choices...his word??.... And
look at Bill Clinton and Monica....well, you know THAT story. Remember
Lance Armstrong, "I never, I never, I never...well, yes, I
did!" All of the above and so many more, proving their "word" is
NO GOOD! Harry Reid lied about Mitt Romney,
baseball player Josh Hamilton lied about staying sober...the list goes on.
Wouldn't it be NICE if all of us...me, you, lawyers(???),
doctors, teachers...All of us honored our word and stood behind it as the
absolute truth?...Here...let's shake on it and try to do better...I
give my word!
Magpies are dirty, dumb and demeaning. Their raucous "call" makes me "run" for
the shotgun to lower the magpie world numbers – 1 shell at a time! They mess on
everything...and it's not a little splat...it a huge SPLAT! Some
say they're Mexico's National Bird and they're protected...well, I ain't in Mexico
and it's "open season" if they land at my place! They're aviary bullies – the "trash
talkin' punks of bird land" and I'm honoring the Constitution by sending them on
an "exit route" out of America!!...I hate MAGPIES!
Hey folks – please help me increase the number of readers of "Cowpies". As a favor
