I write this edition of "Cowpies & Coffee Cups" with a heavy heart and questions. The killing this past week of LaVoy Finicum of Arizona, one of the protestors in Burns, Oregon was, in my opinion, unjust and borderline mafia style "hit". Three weeks prior to Mr. Finicum's assassination, I called him at the Wildlife Refuge and asked him to be on my radio program. He agreed and I found him to be a very sincere, warm, friendly, soft spoken individual that loved his Country and our Constitutional Freedoms and rights. After the show I thanked him and invited him back in the next few days....NOW....that will never happen. The "situation" that killed him strikes me as very odd and bizarre. Two vehicles, traveling on a State highway, not breaking any laws, are suddenly surrounded by Oregon State Police and FBI, shots are fired (some say over 100!) and according to eye witnesses, Mr. Finicum with his hands up, is shot numerous times and killed...why??... "Routine" traffic stop!...what had they done to deserve a "Bonnie and Clyde" barrage of bullets?? The despicable racists in Ferguson, Missouri burned, looted and demolished; the pathetic punks in Baltimore destroyed their neighbors' businesses and homes and dared police to take action......nothing. But on an Oregon highway, so called justice is served and a family man, a proud American, lies dead as the pavement turns red with his blood. I'm not at all satisfied with the answers the FBI is giving, I do not trust the Governor of Oregon at all...it was her Oregon State Police that pulled their triggers. The West....use of public lands...politics...graft and corruption...our Constitution...our rights and freedoms...all came together last week and a good man died.
A question...why...this past week...why did many news outlets show the 30 year observance of the Challenger space explosion.....but.....the hijacked jet planes by muslim terrorists crashing into the "Twin Towers" in New York is banned? I firmly believe that every single morning when TV stations "sign on" with the National Anthem or Pledge – the plane attack video should be shown to let America know and feel the horror, the pain and patriotism we need to stand up for America and if necessary fight for it! Our "coming together" was "short lived" after 9/11...I pray we're not so fragmented we can never stand in unison again...
