What a "bunch"... "Zeb's Lunch Bunch". They all have different backgrounds.... accountants, mechanics, insurance adjusters, car salesmen, book store owners, firemen, stagecoach builders...yes...stagecoach builders and many more...what a bunch. I started "Zeb's Lunch Bunch" about 16 years ago to garner more publicity for my talk show. The first event was at a local McDonalds...and we had 6 people show up. With the original 6, we met monthly and visited, gave out a few "door prizes" and little by little the numbers grew.
All of a sudden, we were 20, 40, then 50 people and we moved to a new, bigger location at a JB's restaurant, taking up one whole room. Those were fun times. The camaraderie, the jokes, the "giving" was like a fun family Thanksgiving every month. Then a problem came down the pike....JB's was closing and we did not have a "home". But...as usual, God's timing was perfect.
A new "Denny's" restaurant was just completed, and after a brief visit with the owner/manager, the "Lunch Bunch" was back in business! Dear Reader, YOU have no idea of the love and friendships that are in that "Denny's" room...but...there's sadness, too...as many of our "Bunch" have passed away. It's really been difficult for Deanne and me to attend funerals of friends that just months ago were laughing and teasing each other at the monthly gathering. As I write this, there is a tear in my eye as I miss them dearly, but the fond memories of their departed friendship will last forever!
This is Memorial Day Weekend...Memorial...remember...really remember the good times and good people. Creating the "Lunch Bunch" was one of the best things I ever did...because it gave me a foundation of friends and love I've never felt before...What a "Bunch"!
Proverbs, Chapter 24, verse 10 says..."You are a poor specimen if you can't stand the pressure of adversity"...How true for all of us. This Country...you and me....we all need to get a lot "tougher" and demand that WE, as a nation, GO BACK to the principles and moral values that made US...America...great! NO MORE stupid "P.C.", no more perverted "Bathroom Bills", no more bending to appease and capitulate to foreign evil...NO MORE! Get tough America...You, Me...all of us...stick your chin out and say "I'm an AMERICAN and darn proud of it!"........HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!
