Humpty Dumpty sat on a...horse, Humpty Dumpty was roping of course, Humpty Dumpty did NOT fall, but when the horse stopped, Humpty's hip did not...thus all the Kings men did have an opportunity to put Humpty back together again (the heck with the rhyme!). Yup...I really did a number on my hip and femur...so Ole' Humpty (me) is starting to heal after a very big surgery at the University of Utah Hospital with their excellent staff. Okay...so now we start all over. Minute by minute, day by day of trying to regain not only strength, but balance and coordination.
This was my 19th surgery and after all the accidents, the polio, the plane crash, horse wrecks, etc...I'm starting to feel sorry for myself...Oh, woe is me! Yeah, I got down this past weekend in SLC and developed a good case for the "let's have a pity party for Zeb" - I'll provide the tears and the sobs about how cruel life is, all you have to bring is a "pat on my head" and keep saying "Oh, you poor baby!"
Waa Waa Waa...enter Deanne. There is NO ONE on this earth that can, in an instant, make me either fighting mad OR transition me into being "Don Juan"! (I know, I know – hard to believe!) She has made me "cowboy up" on numerous occasions and I'm SO thankful for her! But, there is always...ALWAYS someone right around the corner that is by far worse off than you - so – stop the "Whine & cheese and be thankful for what you have and what you can do.
Everything...EVERYTHING we do is a part of God's plan for our lives.. "Thy will be done"... we forget that, I forget that. All together now...AMEN! Hebrews 12 verse 12 and 13 sums up "where" I am! (again)... "So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path of your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong". Thank you Lord Jesus...Humpty's on his way back!
The night after surgery I turned out light at 9:45, lowered the bed to an almost horizontal position and thought sleep...please sleep!...all of a sudden a brilliant flash...lights drilling into my eye sockets and a nurse's voice, "Hello, Mr. Bell, I'm here to take your vitals"! Okay, okay...10 minutes later, light off...blessed sleep! "Mr. Bell, Mr. Bell, wake up...I'm here to administer your meds"! It's now 2:30 AM. I swallowed the 27 pills with a gulp of water and weakly say "Thank you" ---- (now leave me alone) – to go back to blessed sleep......4:45 AM!! What the heck now??? "Mr. Bell, we're here to get a blood draw"...isn't it a wonderful morning"!! NO! NO! How could having a needle stuffed up your vein at sunrise even remotely be considered a "wonderful morning"!!! 10 minutes later....they're gone – blessed sleep - - "Wake up, Mr. Bell – time for breakfast!" ARRGGH!!! Lady, you can take your granola and juice and toast and...and...!?!?!? Deep...blessed sleep...NOT to be found in a hospital!
