They wouldn't believe it. If I were to give a speech to my 1965 class at Fort Atkinson High School about what I've done and where I've been...they wouldn't believe it. Every month, a very devoted gentleman by the name of Kent Vasby publishes a newsletter about who's doing what and what happened to them and where are they now? In this newsletter, he poses questions like "Do you remember your first day at school?", or "Have you ever been mountain climbing?"...whatever. Then, it's been interesting to read the comments the next month of some of the past alumni from various years, that have done this or that...they wouldn't believe me.
From polio in 1952 to a plane crash in 1972, all the operations, all the hospital "time". From all the horse accidents and broken legs, ribs, fingers and dislocated hips...they wouldn't believe me. From being selected six times to announce the prestigious National Finals Rodeo to announcing at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia...they wouldn't believe me. From doing the voice work on numerous national TV commercials to being in major movies...they wouldn't believe me.
They wouldn't believe along with my ole' cowboy friend Johnny U...we've had two very successful TV shows and I've won many awards for my radio show. I've been blessed to have been installed into three "Halls of Fame" and I've been able to rope in almost every western state. I've "cowboyed" with some of the best and married the most loving, caring gal in the world. I've produced some of the best equine and music events in the Northwest and my kids, Jake and Tobee, are exemplary parents and leaders in the community...I've been "knighted" by the Queen of Spain and I've interviewed almost all the prominent politicians in the country...(except the ones I really don't like!) I love my church and I hate where America is headed,...and I'm trying to do something about it!...NOPE...they wouldn't believe it.
A lot has happened in 38 days...a whirlwind of activity. July 7th I had a hip replacement and since then...YAHOO Buckaroo!!..exercises, home health physical therapists and nurses, "learning" to walk again...Don't fall!!...getting in and out of cars and pickups, eating too much, BUT...not having a beer while on blood thinner...(darn)...still can't get my socks on or pull on my boots...BUT!!...I am getter better! Thank you, Lord and look out – here comes Ole' Zeb!!
