Sometimes I need to just sit on a bale of hay.....the Christmas season CAN BE and for us HAS BEEN stressful. The last few weeks, my little red day planner has been screaming at me to be here,..go there...call so and so at 11:45...call the vet, move hay and straw, fix the electrical cord to the stock tank, do a remote broadcast,...then cancel because of the weather and "try" to "reschedule" before Christmas, on and on.

There's a phrase from the movie "Crossfire Trail" starring Tom Selleck and Wilford Brimley that sticks in my head... "slow down, you'll have a more harmonious outcome"...how true! When I stop and sit on a bale of hay...I try to talk to someone that's always with me, through all the runnin' and hurry and short temper...Jesus.

This past week, with a ropin' steer trying to die and then having an epiphany to try to live, I was made aware again, how precious life is...but we have to enjoy it! I sat there looking at that steer and he laid there looking right back at me as if to say "Look Pard, I'm trying, bear with me!" BAM!!..that hit me! "I'm trying, bear with me" sums up how all of us as Christians are to Jesus. He bears with us, He knows we make mistakes, He knows that we're trying...that's all he asks.

Faith is a funny thing...we believe in something and someone we can't see or hear or touch...but we believe. In a manger in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago, the shepherds believed, the Wise Men believed as they watched Mary hold the Savior of the World...Jesus. The goats and sheep, the donkeys and the cattle all looked on in serene stillness at the marvelous sight. I wonder, I really wonder if God wasn't "speaking" to me through the eyes of this sick ropin' steer to slow down...it will all work out with a more "harmonious outcome". I feel lots better for taking some time to just sit on a bale of hay...Merry Christmas!

I'm thinking of installing a "zip line" from my back porch to the barn to save me from walking on the ICE. WOW...I like my idea. Imagine, all I do is step out the door, buckle the harness and WHOOSH. I'm at the barn doing chores. I'm still penciling out some of the "small details" of how to not hit the barn like a "bug on a windshield" and how to stop and get out of the dang thing while on crutches or better yet...how to get back to the house??!! "Ring, Ring...Hello Goober, this is Zeb...please bring my supper to the barn"!! Might work...might not.

Don't forget Dr-History.com! Exciting episodes of the old West!! Now in 110 countries...110!! And not one of them have said they're offended!
