You just don't "throw away" old friends. Friends that have been with you in the good times...and the bad times. Friends that have become weathered, aged, and wrinkled...just like me. Friends that used to "look" sharp and be the topic of many conversations...now they're old and worn out from a long, tiring life. They are friends that make me comfortable and I feel secure being with them and they've never let me down in any circumstance. They may not "look" young and energetic...but they're with me and stand tough for me, 100%.

Oh,...excuse me....I'm not talking about human friends...I'm writing about my ole "favorite" black hat and my beloved, old comfortable boots! Yes, Sir...let me tell you about my pals...those old, patched 12 times, boots. When they were new and shiny they went with me all across America to rodeos in almost every state. I could buff and polish them up to make me look very professional at any event. I bought them in Oklahoma City in 1982, the first year I announced the National Finals Rodeo. They went with me to Florida and California to Montana and down to Arizona...they were dependable friends. When they started the "aging process", I wore them every day to ride and rope in, to clean stalls and build fence and sit in the backyard and have an adult beverage with my ropin' friends. When age and use created cracks and holes, I'd rush to the "boot doctor" and he surgically supplied them with patches that helped stall the deterioration... somewhat...I've got em' on right NOW and after 35 years, I'm hoping to get at least 5 years more out of em'...they may out last me!

As for my favorite black hat...no other hat has ever made me feel sooo good! I wore it brand new at the NFR, it was on my head when I met the Queen of Spain, it was my trademark for many years. Whenever I did wear another hat, people would say, "Zeb, this hat...it just isn't you!" Soon, like the boots, it became a little beat up and distorted...so it is now my everyday work hat...two ole' friends together forever. In most every picture of me roping or even mowing the lawn...yup, there's my buddy, that old black hat! Now it has stains and rips and has faded with weather and time...but it "feels" so good perched up on my "noggin"...you just don't "throw away" old friends!

If you live next to a Democrat...please watch over them, protect them, hug them and comfort them...they are going through a very rough time. Their inability to accept reality has caused them to be nervous, wild-eyed wrecks and it's our duty to help them take an aspirin, sit them in a chair, put a quilt over their lap and talk soothingly to them...they are not well. For the next four years (at least) they will be unable to cope with conservative values and principles of virtue and family morals...please watch for their frozen stares, uncombed hair and desperate disheveled appearance...they need love and counseling.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Our Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.

Dear Lord: Please Bless and heal this land with your grace and power.
Help us to realize YOU are in charge as you were, as you are now and like
you'll be in the future. Forgive us for "straying off the trail" of what's right
and what's wrong and help us to appreciate what you've blessed us with,
the greatest Country in the world...America!
In Jesus Name.....Amen
