The world is NOT spinning out of control...when God created earth and the universe, all of his creations were put in a special orbit or movement so they could function properly and not become an afternoon on a crowded freeway, bumping, pushing and careening into each other. WHO is out of control...US...people.
Too many of us have lost our perspectives on how to be better people...and how to treat...people. We've lost our kindness, our religion, our manners, our responsibility and our...love...we just don't seem to care anymore...it's US that are spinning out of control. I'm just as guilty as anyone. I'm guilty of letting road rage overtake me. I'm guilty of slamming the phone down on a late night call from a person that can't say a recognizable English word...I'm guilty of opening the steam valves when someone treats me in a confrontational manner...yes...I'm guilty.
As I write this, I can think of at least 3 incidents TODAY that made my BP rise and...I'm the one spinning out of control. I've had a heart attack and a small stroke...mmm...you'd think I'd have "read the memo"! OKAY – so let's change. Starting NOW I'm going to really try to be a "Cooler-hand Luke" and smile more and vent less...(Lord help me!) If all of us would try a lil' bit more to be kinder and more gentle...WOW! What this world could become!
Today as I talked to a credit card representative about closing my account, there were times that I wanted to crawl through the phone line and strangle the lady for NOT understanding I want to STOP, CANCEL, FINALIZE, CURTAIL and RIP UP the darn card!!! Finally, it occurred to her that I maybe WAS not going to continue doing business with her company and she said, "Oh, I see you want to discontinue the card permanently...thank you for your business, Sir"...DUH!! YUP!! But you know what?...I remained "polite" and I feel better for it!
So...when some Neanderthal pulls in front of you 10 feet from an intersection...just SMILE and grip the wheel ever so tightly to pretend you're choking him to death and drive on...when someone blatantly steps in line ahead of you...just close your eyes and envision them being the menu choice at a cannibal feast - - instead of counting to just 10 you may, like me, have to use an abacus to count high enough to keep from putting Tony Lama tread marks on their noses...I am trying, and if we all try maybe we can keep us and the entire world from spinning out of control.
Think warm...hummmm...think 80's....hummmm...think lots of sunshine...hummmmm...but don't open your eyes cause' it's raining cats and beagles outside!!! Spring!!!!
