Fires and smoke! It's that time of the year...fires breaking out all around us. Wheat fields, grazing land, hay stacks, a very dangerous time of year! Last night at about 6:30 PM – sirens coming down the highway and a big fire in the grain field next to my neighbor's sheep operation. Goober and I jumped on the 4-wheelers and shot down to their ranch to see if we could help. Fortunately, the local Rock Creek Fire Department had four trucks on the scene in a matter of minutes and...fire out! They never get enough praise and thanks for what they do and how they do it! A year ago, my neighbor's garage caught on fire and amazingly, our volunteer fire department had the fire under control and diminished in just...minutes! These volunteers are professional, efficient and caring and saying "Thank You" is NOT enough!
Are any of you besieged with phone calls from Robo Callers trying to sell you an extended warranty for your car, OR...Google trying to update your information OR...the dumbest... "Mr. Bell, we know you're having problems paying off your student loans...We can help!!" Now...I paid in full for my college education, I haven't been in school for over 47 years...and these nincompoops keep calling me for student debt??!! I would love to get their home numbers and call and call and harass them to the point of their mental demise...leave me alone!....Please! I'm starting to have thoughts of mixing toothpaste and Preparation H to sell to phone solicitors so they can have a brighter smile and a shrinking personality!! Get the drift??
There are some really great kids out there...last weekend the Smith Family from Pendleton, Oregon stayed at our home for the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductions. One of the young men was John, who at 13 years of age, is extremely ahead of his years in politeness and Christian values. He has strong beliefs and serving others is his prime concern...knowing him is a delight...there is hope for the younger generation - - - lead the way, John!!
