Dear Jesus...I know you're really busy right now but I need to talk with you. First off, THANK YOU for letting me enjoy another Thanksgiving Celebration, and I am thankful. It's been kinda tough at times, with ME making a lot of dumb, sinful choices and then running to you for forgiveness...and YOU did. Deanne and I have had some health issues that I asked you to help us with...and YOU did. There were times that I felt the "walls were closing in" and I asked you to open a window...and YOU did. There were times I did not know what to do or how to act in a certain situation, I asked you for some guidance and a lil' nudge in the right direction...and YOU did. Yes...I've got so much to be thankful for...and I am. The old song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", that all of us have probably sung a thousand times, but have you really understood the words? Here are all four verses written about Your friend and mine...JESUS!
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
*In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.
The last two lines of verse 3, sum up for me how I am protected and blessed and … very thankful. May God bless you and keep you IN his arms and Happy Thanksgiving from us - -
