General Mike Flynn lies to FBI...North Korea fires off an ICBM missile that has the trajectory and distance to hit the U.S.....Sexual abuse scandals and firings of top network staff and politicians....the Stock Market shooting into space with enormous gains, but, what goes up soon comes down...Illegal alien kills a beautiful 32 year old girl, but, San Francisco Sanctuary jurors find him NOT GUILTY!?! Congress is scrambling to avoid (another)government shutdown...and I lost a good friend. Garth Greenwell passed away this week and when I received the call, my first thought was...the last of my ridin' partners...gone. For many years, I helped gather cattle in the fall for the Robert Manning ranch in Oakley. I'd leave my place at about 5:30 in the morning and head for Burch Creek and the Manning headquarters. Bob and Steve Manning would be saddling their horses in the barn and I'd wait outside having that last drop of hot coffee in my mug. Then, all heck would break loose, cause here comes Garth!! He'd pull in the drive, get out and crank up that high pitched, screeching voice of his in a "Good Morning" howl that would make coyotes run! Almost always, it was Garth, Bob and I riding together and with Garth's sense of humor which ranged from bawdy to insane, the days flew by way to fast. I remember the time, the three of us were on the side of a mountain on rock edges in a blizzard!...Oh, let me tell you...the angel dandruff was comin' down! It was really dangerous because we could not see the edges of the cliffs and had to inch our horses off that mountain...I was a lil' worried! But not Ole' Garth, all the way off that mountain and all the way back to the truck and trailer and all the way to the ranch...Garth just kept a jabberin' and telling dog training and mule driving stories...he alone cut the tension of a bad day in serious weather!...Those days are gone now...and so are Bob and Garth. This morning I looked from my back porch over towards Burch Creek and swore I could hear Garth's scratchy "Good Morning"! So long ole' friend, we rode a lot of trails and hopefully, we can again someday...Happy Heavenly Trails!

So far, so good – no snow to shovel or fall on. I hate ice, snow, and "yuck and muck". On crutches, if I hit a patch of ice just wrong...I can cover all 4 points of the compass in one big splat!! Linoleum floors, wood floors, or highly waxed floors are just waiting for me...just a drop of water and the wrong move and I'm toast! So far...so good!!

Don't forget Dr-History.com! Exciting episodes of the old West!!
