A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.....soon, very soon that 2nd Amendment to our Constitution may disappear. As a father and grandfather my heart was broken and yes, tears were shed as another horrendous, senseless shooting took the lives of students and staff in Florida. The killer, a deranged, demented 19 year old easily walked into Douglas High School and fatally shot 17 and wounded many others. It did not have to happen. Nicholas Cruz had supplied plenty of warning signals to not only the school and staff but also to the Broward County Sheriff and the FBI...they KNEW this young man was a threat to society and nothing, nothing of substance was done....NOTHING. During the shooting, there were armed guards on the campus and they did nothing. Now... "COPYCAT" threats are being emailed to schools all over America and administrators and police have to acknowledge them – even if false. We think of "terrorism" as solely an Islamic Jihad against the world...but today it is so much more. Chicago's South Side is a killing zone everyday and every night, residents live in daily terror that bullets will pierce their walls and windows, killing them and their family. Southern border ranchers I know, never go out to check on their cattle or fix fence or repair a water trough without strapping on a .38 or loading a Winchester for the front seat of the pickup. They live in fearful terror everyday. Elderly in California literally lock themselves into their homes petrified of illegal aliens just walking in and taking whatever they want. The homeowners are cautioned to stay in their confines until they call a neighbor to see if the "coast is clear!" Enough! The kids aren't safe in school, the elderly can't leave their homes and the rest of us run the risk of being beaten, robbed or killed on every street in America. But yet...the left demands that you and I run up the risk percentage even higher by demanding WE give up our protection and security....WE, the innocents are told to give up our guns!! I will not. The killer in Florida should have been questioned and possibly incarcerated long ago...and he certainly, with his mental disability, never should have been able to buy a gun. We still do not really know the facts of the Las Vegas shooting...why? Columbine, Sandy Hook, Denver....the list goes on and on with demented psychos WHO should have been stopped before their heinous actions started! We have to wake up, stop the political correctness, and address and help mental health issues in America. When there are "signs" read them and meet them head on...don't let these fester into another slaughter of innocent school children. The "gun" didn't kill the students, the sick person operating the gun did! All of us need to be aware of who and whats around us...at all times...be very vigilant and if you see something...SAY SOMETHING and demand, yes, demand something be done!! Lives are at stake!
