Charles Krauthammer was tough, so tough – he was a man to appreciate and emulate. Charles Krauthammer died this week after battling cancer and earlier in life, a broken neck and being paralyzed. He was very tough, very intelligent and...magnetic. I chose that word, "magnetic" because I was drawn to him and wanted to always hear his opinion on various subjects. He called black and white and "balls and strikes" the way he saw them in the political and world arena. Charles put out a notice two weeks ago to all of his friends, associates and the millions that were viewers and readers of his editorials. The "notice" basically said "I'll be dying soon, I've had a great life and thank you for your friendship". Charles knew it was the end, no tears, no wailing, no woe is me,...he just said "good bye" - honest journalism will miss him.
On a less serious note...wait a minute...it's very serious to me, the local Magic Valley Groceries have stopped selling my favorite salsa!! This can't happen!!! I'm "addicted" to the Pace Peach Mango Salsa, I go through at least 2 full bottles each week, on Wheat Thins, hamburgers and steak, on potatoes, added to soup, and...yes...I've even tried it on ice cream!... I can't fight it...it has a strangle hold on me....I MUST HAVE MY PEACH MANGO SALSA!!! I called the local grocery outlets, they gave me a flimsy excuse that their distributor canceled it, thus, no more on the shelves!! HOLY GAS and INTESTINAL EXPLOSIONS – what am I going to do??!? I called the Pace Headquarters in Wisconsin, and they said that the Peach Mango was one of their best sellers – WHAT? Do you mean to tell me that someone at a food distributorship made a "decision" to stop my Peach Mango without my vote or at least running it by the UN Security Council?? How dare this "person" exercise that kind of power!! I was outraged and yelled and screamed and threw rocks at the cat...(we don't have one so I threw at the neighbors!)...I HAVE to have my Peach Mango!! After calming myself with a warm wash towel to my forehead, I "calmly" called the Pace home office again. I demanded to talk to any person with hierarchical authority...I'm in desperate need of a salsa "fix"!...And then...as peaceful as a white dove floating in the breeze over the ocean an answer to my dilemma was provided! The God-like voice on the other end of the line said "Sir, just order the Peach Mango on Amazon...oh Amen, Amen!! 14 bottles will be here on Tuesday...I'm saved!! Life is good!
