Professional athletes are sitting at home, wasting their talents and competitiveness and they might not get a check for their chosen sport for a long time to come. The grocery store is still selling food, the pharmacy selling medications, the hardware store nails and wrenches, but the pro-athlete is looking at a very murky future. It will be a long time before we hear "Peanuts, Popcorn, Cold Beer" at any of the major league ballparks, the clatter of cleats in the dugouts and the umpire yelling "Play ball!" The way things look, we may not hear the booming "pops" of shoulder pads slamming into each player on the football field, or hear the crowd roar after a 45 yard touchdown pass. In my sport, rodeo, the big fancy trucks and trailers are parked in the yard. They haven't moved an inch since the first of March. Huge monthly payments on these outfits are due at the bank, but there are no calves to rope, no steers to throw and no bulls to ride, and when you can't compete...there are no checks to cash. All the hard work and training and practice,...all the grit and determination to be the best...is on hold...and for some, the "hold" may be permanent. There's a freedom in the rodeo business that none other has, your success and money earned is all dependent on just how good you are! And you'd better be good, cause there's a whole "pack of wolves" nipping at your heels to grab that "check" and leave you with nothing! Announcers, clowns, and bullfighters, stock contractors, secretaries are all "out of work" right now, and this is the time for some of the best paying rodeos in the Country! Nothing but dust and old hotdog wrappers are in the arenas right now, the stands are empty and cold, and the gates on the buckin' chutes remain latched. Regardless of your sport, this is a very sad time for America...we must get back to work...and play.

Don't forget Dr-History.com! Exciting episodes of the old West!!

Our Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America

with Liberty and Justice for all.

Dear Lord: Please Bless and heal this land with your grace and power.
Help us to realize YOU are in charge as you were, as you are now and like
you'll be in the future. Forgive us for "straying off the trail" of what's right
and what's wrong and help us to appreciate what you've blessed us with,
the greatest Country in the world...America!
In Jesus Name.....Amen
