I miss you Mrs. Kilts.....a wonderful lady that was my elementary school teacher for all 8 grades...yes, all. I attended a one room country school, Curtis Mill Elementary, and I'm proud to be one of the graduates. There were approximately 35 children enrolled from 1st Grade to 8th and Mrs. Kilts handled and taught each level with authority and caring. My mother would take us the 4 miles to school every morning in a ol' Nash-Rambler station wagon, getting us there about a half hour early so we could play outside (whatever the weather!). At 8:00 AM sharp Mrs. Kilts would tug on the school bell rope and everyone hurried inside and sat down – quietly – at our desks. She would say "Good morning students and welcome to another great day" and then one student was selected to lead the classes with the Pledge of Allegiance, then the day of learning began. We did learn, much more than what was in the books. Mrs. Kilts was a fantastic educator, but also possessed so many more character qualities. She cared, she loved, she corrected and reprimanded, and she motivated. During noon hour recess, she'd play softball with us and if we became sick during the school day, she'd care for us. In later years, when I went home to visit...I'd have to drive over to that old brick school house, long vacant, to replenish my memories....today, when I read of teachers unions "demands", such as "no police on the campus" and "defund police" and other obtuse requests, I see Mrs. Kilts shaking her head in dismay. She was a teacher that gave and kept on giving, with never a thought of return congratulations or remuneration. The only "thanks" she wanted was for her students, me included, to do their best, and use the talent God had given. I miss you Mrs. Kilts...and I have tried to do my best!

Our Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.

Dear Lord: Please Bless and heal this land with your grace and power.
Help us to realize YOU are in charge as you were, as you are now and like
you'll be in the future. Forgive us for "straying off the trail" of what's right
and what's wrong and help us to appreciate what you've blessed us with,
the greatest Country in the world...America!
In Jesus Name.....Amen

Please read Proverbs Chapter 8 verse 10 – read it and cherish it!
